Step 1: Welcome you to the craft workshop
This experience starts at the Viet Town handicraft workshop. When you arrive, a staff member welcomes you to the colorful, spacious classroom, accommodating up to 100 students at once.
Step 2: Introduce lantern culture and the steps to start
A local person introduces the cultural significance of lanterns in Hoi An, which symbolizes luck and prosperity in the local community. Then, they show you the steps to create these beautiful and meaningful lanterns.
Step 3: Choose your seat to begin practicing
Come to your seat to let your hands create your lantern.
A local guide will walk you through the process of using a bamboo frame and applying soft silk to create a beautiful lantern. You will learn how to ensure the bamboo frame is evenly spaced, the silk is stretched tightly, and there is no excess glue, resulting in a perfect product.
Step 4: Polish your lantern
Check your lantern and trim any excess fabric to get a perfect product.

Gently touch the lantern, and you will feel the fabric's softness and strong bamboo strips.
Step 5: Take pictures of lanterns

What to note:
The experience lasts 1 hour to 1.5 hours, and your clothes may get glued, so you need to pay attention to them.
Although the class is often held every day from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, the default time for this lantern-making tour is 4:00 PM. If you want a different start time, you have to tell us while booking.
Starting at 4:00 PM is recommended because you may go into the old town to see hundreds of colorful lanterns hanging in front of houses and restaurants and crossing ancient streets.
