Buddhist Culture Museum in Danang
The Buddhist Culture Museum in Da Nang City is the first Buddhist museum in Vietnam. It has been open since January 2016 and is located in the 700m2 area of Quan The Am Pagoda, part of the Marble Mountains.
The museum displays hundreds of ancient Buddhist relics, becoming one of the unique cultural tourist attractions in Da Nang, Vietnam.
At present, the museum displays over 200 artifacts crystallizing unique cultural values. They include the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara statue, Avalokiteshvara riding a carp, many ancient statues such as Thich Ca, Duoc Su, Bodhisattva, Quan Yin, Champa, Amitabha, the bells of bronze, and the eight octaves.
The most significant number of unique Buddhist statues and other forms in Vietnam are preserved well in the museum for worship, dating from the seventh century to the late nineteenth century and XX.
One of the unique artifacts in the collection that can not be ignored is the Quan Yin Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara (Lady Buddha Statue). She is riding a carp with a dragon head.
This statue was accidentally dug and given to the temple a few years ago. It is nearly 50cm high, weighs about 7kg, and was made of brass in the late nineteenth century.
Although this Buddhist cultural museum is new, it has many valuable artifacts and statues about the Buddhist region, which are rare to see elsewhere.
