Quoc Hoc High School

Quoc Hoc High School was established in 1896 under the Nguyen dynasty. At present, it has become one of the top three high schools in Vietnam, specializing in teaching selected classes.

The school has also selected the top clever students in Hue City and nearby provinces to be present in its high-quality classes.

In history, many famous people in Vietnam, such as Ho Chi Minh, Vo Nguyen Giap, Ngo Dinh Diem, and Phan Boi Chau, studied here, making it more well-known among the Vietnamese people.

Please note that this unique place is used for learning and teaching, so its visiting time is from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm and 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm when the schools finish. Out of these timing frames, you can take pictures around its gate.

The Four Highlights of Quoc Hoc High School

With its long history, a well-known place for learning and teaching, and unique architecture, Quoc Hoc has become a tourist destination for visiting and taking pictures during your journeys.

Its highlights include:

1. Ao dai for schoolgirls

The school girls often wear traditional Vietnamese dress, also called Ao Dai. This dress makes them more elegant and beautiful.

Visiting the school at the time they have just finished school, you will have a good chance to see this charm and take pictures.

Vietnamdrive’s team suggests you come to this site by 11:10 am or 5:10 pm when the classes often finish, and then school girls will go out. However, the girls wear Ao Dai as their school uniform on Monday and Tuesday.

2. The gate and memorial screen

The gate is considered the face of most schools, and Quoc Hoc’s gate is no exception. It has an eye-catching style with a dark red color, creating a lovely background for your photos.

Opposite the gate is a memorial building as a Feng Shui screen to protect the school. This area near the beautiful Perfume River has a spacious space and fresh air for the local people and students to practice exercise in the early morning and late afternoon. What an active place to see the locals!

3. Statue of Ho Chi Minh

Right in the center of the schoolyard is a statue of Ho Chi Minh when he was young, named Nguyen Tat Thanh (his other name). He used to study in Quoc Hoc High School in 1908.

This statue reminds the students to improve their education spirit and try to get the targets in their lives.

4. The school’s buildings

On the campus of Quoc Hoc are many old-style buildings. Typically, both sides are four impressive ones where you can take beautiful pictures. The highlights that make me like them very much are the dark red colors and plenty of windows.

Many international guests skip Quoc Hoc High School, but the locals like to come here so much. I do not know why so many tours miss it; just wonder that Hue City has many other famous tourist attractions to explore.
