Tao Dan Park

Tao Dan Park is about 10 hectares wide and has over 1,000 trees. It attracts many urban residents who exercise, walk, or have fun in the early morning and late afternoon. The locals consider it a green lung in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City.

During hot days, this park, one of the largest parks in this city, is a popular destination for locals and tourists to enjoy the quiet and fresh space and escape from the strong heat. You can sit on the benches to chat with friends or organize a picnic on the wide grass in the green garden.

Typically, you may listen to birds singing on the trees while resting, which is valuable for a moment and can help calm the soul and mind.

Stepping back in time, the park was the "royal garden" of Gia Dinh, the residence of the family of Governor Le Van Duyet, known as the Vice-King for ruling over South Vietnam before 1859. This historical connection adds a unique depth to your experience at Tao Dan Park.

The garden was called "Vuon Ong Thuong," including the Reunification Palace today. In addition to the residence of the Governor-General, it also had a flower garden and a traditional theater.

The time has gone, and the park is now much smaller than its original size; however, it plays an essential role in the daily lives of the locals, where they relax and breathe fresh air.

Cong Vien Tao Dan is a familiar green place to go sightseeing, walk, play sports, and participate in fine arts and entertainment activities. Typically, this site is chosen for the largest Spring Flower Festival in Ho Chi Minh City during every Tet holiday.

It's important to note that while the park is open until 10:00 p.m., it's advisable not to stay past 8:00 p.m. to ensure your safety. Vietnamdrive recommends this precaution to avoid any potential risks.

Another delightful aspect of the park is the chance to encounter students practicing their English with foreigners. If you have the time, you can help them learn English, fostering community and shared learning.
