Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens

Established in 1864, Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens is the largest plant and animal conservation park in Ho Chi Minh City, with 20 hectares, and the 8th largest zoo in the world. The locals call it "Vườn Thú Sài Gòn," meaning Saigon Zoo.

This place has various plants, including up to 1,800 trees of 260 different species, 23 domestic orchids, 33 cacti, and 34 types of bonsai.

With an extensive system of green plants, this garden has become a great place to escape the hot temperatures in Ho Chi Minh City. Thus, plenty of locals visit and relax during the summer or weekends. Some of them carry all members of their families and camp here.

Besides the abundant vegetation, this region takes care of many types of animals, birds, and reptiles. Typically, you can see elephants, tigers, pink flamingos, crocodiles, and righno.

In addition, Saigon Zoo organizes exciting games for children and adults, such as roller coasters, electric cars, and crazy waves.

With a large area, Saigon Zoo takes 3 to 4 hours to explore and rest. So, the best time to visit it is in the morning when you feel comfortable looking at the animals playing in their own space. Besides, you can buy a few pieces of food to feed some animals, which is an excellent way to have contact with cute animals going around you.
